About Rose Cottage
Hello, and welcome to Rose Cottage! My name is Michaela, and I live in Brighton with my two boys.
I have had a lifelong passion for Essential oils, and I began to experiment with making balms with Bees wax,essential oils and Almond oils way back in the early nineties, in New Zealand, where I grew up. I created a Baby Bum Balm, which I used on my baby son,from Chamomile and Lavender essential oils, with Almond Oil and Beeswax.It worked amazingly well, clearing up nappy rash within hours,and that is when I fell in love with natures bounty!..I then made a version of Vicks with Menthol.eucalyptus and Peppermint, which was also very good. My Dad asked for a balm for dry heels which I created for him.He said it worked very well and got rid of the dryness, and asked for more.
After a trip to Australia I found a book called The Fragrant Pharmacy by Valerie Anne Worwood, and it was packed with formulas,using essential oils for every known common malady. This book lead to me learning a lot about the oils,and many experiments in the kitchen,one day when melting Bees wax on a hot New Zealand summers day,with the windows open,an entire swarm of bees flew into my kitchen..I dived for cover and watched with fascination as the bees inspected the pot of melting bees wax,and then went on their way,back out of the window !
Over the last two years I have been sourcing the best products ,networking and making friends with many fellow soapers and potion makers ,buying a bit here and a bit there, and creating xmas gifts for friends ,and recieving nothing but positive feedback .Now I am more than delighted to bring you my dream finally come true-Rose Cottage.
I have told you so much about myself so that you can see how long I have wanted to make this a reality...and how special and important to me Rose Cottage is ,and to show you the person behind the web pages ,a person who has dearly wanted this venture for many years .I hope to become self sufficient soon ,and to show my boys that you can be and do whatever your heart desires, just never give up on your dreams!
